With Labor Day weekend upon us, the public is invited to get it started tomorrow at the Perry Municipal Airport.

Walter Aviation, the fixed-base operator (FBO) of the airport, will be offering a fly-in, drive-in breakfast in the morning, and airplane rides the whole weekend. FBO Manager Matt Stone says it should be a fun event for people of all ages, and a great opportunity to learn more about the airport. “You’re going to get the opportunity to see some really cool airplanes. We do have a ‘Tail-Dragger’ award ceremony, so as the different airplanes will come in, each one will have different awards ranging from ‘coolest’ to ‘most-unique’ to ‘high performance.’ So you’ll get to see all the different kinds of airplanes. I like (the event), just because it gets people more interacted with the airport. Just having more people knowing that the airport is out here, what goes on, and how you can be more involved in the airport going forward.”

The breakfast will be served from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, and costs $5 per person. The plane rides will be offered from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, and cost $20 per person (minimum two, maximum three) for scenic rides, or $100 for thrill flights (one passenger per flight).
