The new school year is off and running at Perry High School, and according to Principal Dan Marburger it’s so far been very productive.
“We’ve had a really good start to the year. A lot of it’s to do with the weather, but it also has a lot to do with our planning that we put in every summer to make sure things go smoothly. So schedules were ready, lockers were ready, the building looked great from our janitorial staff. So we were ready to go when kids were here on the 23rd.”
Marburger adds, there’s a lot of excitement around the building this year, particularly with a pair of new classes. One is a computer science elective that goes along with an increased emphasis on a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum throughout the District. This particular course focuses on programming, with students learning how to create things like phone applications. The other new course is Building Trades, where students are learning how to build a house.
Additionally, Marburger reminds students and parents of the construction going on at the high school, which is limiting the parking. He says it will be a challenge for everyone, but promises it will be worth it when the wrestling/multipurpose room and industrial technology facility are completed.
