A West Des Moines man has been given probation for a drug conviction stemming from a June 3rd incident.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Larry Golston Jr. pled guilty and was convicted of possession of methamphetamine third offense, a class D felony; and possession of marijuana third offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. A five year and two year prison sentence for the respective convictions were suspended, and Golston was placed on three years probation and two years probation for each count. The probation sentences are to run concurrently. He must also report to the Residential Correctional Facility at Fort Des Moines as soon as a bed is available, and probation is contingent on a successful completion of the program. He must pay full restitution, and court costs, with the fines and surcharges suspended.

The conviction stems from an incident in which he attempted to purchase items with an Arkansas identification card from the White Oak gas station in Casey, and eventually left with the unpurchased items. Deputies located Golston in a vehicle outside the store, where a window was broken to get him out of the vehicle.
