Community leaders from the cities of Guthrie Center and Greenfield recently toured a housing development in Stuart to get inspiration on how to address housing needs in their neighborhoods.
Stuart Realty Broker Margaret Tiernan showed community members a few of the houses in development by Savannah Homes in phase two of the Wambold Addition Monday. There are 32 completed homes in the first addition, and 24 lots in the second addition with a couple lots left to be sold. The Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development is already in talks with the City for a third development called the All Saints Addition.
Guthrie Center Economic Development Board President Dennis Flannery was one of the interested parties at the tour, “Guthrie Center Development Group’s been trying to take a look at some housing options for Guthrie Center and so we’ve been in discussion with Sarah Gomez with Midwest Partnership wanting to take a look at all options and so she set up a tour here in Stuart to kind of see what they were doing, see if it’s something that we can take back and see if it would work in Guthrie Center.”
Flannery adds that the development board will be starting a housing task force to look at different types of housing that could be enhanced in Guthrie Center.
