The annual “Battle for the Cowbell” is just two days away. Perry and Greene County will renew one of the older high school football series in Iowa at Linduska Field at 7 p.m. on Aug. 30. First year head coach Caden Duncan has a number of players back from the 2018 team that was 8-2 overall, a Class 2A playoff qualifier, and ranked in the top 10.

Among the returnees is senior kicker Cael Fisher. He has knee surgery in the summer after sustaining an injury playing basketball. Coach Duncan talked about Fisher’s recovery. “Cael is currently on the mend. He’s hoping to be back by the first game of the year. We also feel good about the backup situation. Nate Black is looking really good with his kickoffs and PATs, and Nick Breon has also done some kicking for us. We’re pretty solid there with the backups, but also excited to get Cael back.”

Fisher on Monday of this week told Raccoon Valley Radio he expects to be kicking against Perry.

Coverage starts at 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
