Greene County began the high school cross-country season on Monday at the Woodward-Granger Invitational held on the Jester Park Golf Course. The Rams were second among six teams of boys and fourth among five girls’ teams.
Coach Jeff Lamoureux was pleased with the results. “Both boys and girls really gave great effort. This was the first meet of the year for all and for a lot of our team it was their first 5K (3.1 miles) ever. This will give us a good baseline for the remainder of the season.”
Saydel (Des Moines) won the boys’ team title with 55 points. Greene County had 57 and W-G 59. West Marshall (State Center) was fourth with 76, followed by Baxter 144, and Clarke (Osceola) 148.
WM had 28 points to win the girls’ crown with Baxter at 67, W-G 74, the Rams 77, and Saydel 123.
