The third meeting of 2019 for the 100+ People for Perry group was held Monday evening, and the beneficiary of the donation on this occasion was EveryStep Hospice.

The nonprofit hospice operates out of Dallas County Hospital in Perry, and received the 15th donation in the history of the charitable organization. The meeting started with organizer Mark Powell reminding those gathered in the Cellar at La Poste of the rules regarding groups that are eligible to receive the quarterly offering. Three projects were then randomly selected for consideration, with members of the group presenting the information in a five-minute window. The attendees were then able to ask questions about the proposed projects, and following that they voted on which to support. As the chosen nonprofit organization, EverStep will receive $100 from each member of 100+ People for Perry, which will equal over $7,000 this time.

To date, the group has now pledged over $100,000 to the 15 different projects, each of which is located entirely in the Perry community. The goal of 100+ People for Perry is to make four large donations every year, in order to invest in the City’s future and enhance the quality of life for residents. The organization is always looking for new members, and anyone interested in joining can reach out to organizers Mark Powell at 515-465-4641 or mpowel@fdplawfirm.com, Tom Lipovac at Tom.Lipovac@perry.k12.ia.us, or Linda Kaufman at kaufmanlinda1948@gmail.com. Any current members who weren’t able to attend Monday’s meeting can drop off their check at the Finneseth, Dalen, and Powell Law Firm.
