Friday, August 23rd

7:17am: Cassie Fowler advised she was bitten by a stray cat at 307 Rushview Drive. The animal was euthanized and taken to the Iowa State Veterinary College for Rabies testing. The animal tested negative for Rabies.

10:00am: Tom Danielson requested an officer to send out Abandoned Vehicle Notices on two vehicles that were left at his shop at 216 East State Street for several years.

10:21am: Ruth Spaulding reported receiving the Social Security Scam Phone Call. She did not give the caller any information.

10:26am: A Traffic Stop at Lincoln Way and Vine Streets resulted in Monica Smith of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

11:32pm: Autumn Dolph spoke to an officer concerning a civil landlord/tenant issue occurring at 304 ½ South Wilson Ave.

11:32 hrs, Officers were requested to perform a Welfare Check on a subject in the 700Block of South Oak Street, after no response at the door by neighbors. They learned the subject was out of town.

12:51pm: Tosha Hickman requested an officer at 107 East Vest Street for a Civil Issue concerning mail.

2:24pm: A caller advised of an altercation between a male and female at 619 South Olive Street. The officers spoke to both parties and were advised a Verbal Argument had occurred, but had not become physical. The parties had separated before the arrival of officers.

6:01pm: A caller advised of a family with young children at Washington Park. They advised they overheard one parent threaten to “Beat the child.” The officer made contact with a family present in the park and spoke to them about the complaint. The children were fine and assistance was not needed.

9:02pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 406 East State Street.

9:14pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 300 South Grimmell Road.

9:34pm: Melinda Millard reported a male subject knocked on her door at 105 North Walnut Street. After she advised the male to leave, he did so on his own.

11:58pm: An officer located an Open Door at 600 East Lincoln Way. The officer secured the building.

Saturday, August 24th

12:45am: A Traffic Stop at Elm and 220 th Street resulted in Shelli Wilson of Glenwood being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

2:46am: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 102 East Clark Street.

3:16am: Vincent Ratliff reported a Missing Dog from 102 West Vest Street. The animal turned up later.

6:42am: The Greene County Middle School advised of a student who was caught with a Vaping Device. Harley Marie Smith, 13 of Jefferson was cited for, “Minor Using Tobacco/Vaping Product.”

6:51am: The Greene County High School reported removing a Vaping Device from a student at 101 Ram Drive. The subject will face consequences from the school, but is 18-years-old and will not face a citation as he is of legal age to possess the device.

1:41pm: Doug Eischeid reported he had allowed a cross country bicyclist to stay on his property in a tent at 2009 North Mulberry Street. The tent was still there but the subject is gone now for several days.

2:02pm: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.

2:16pm: Sarah Kilbourn reported a stray dog in her yard at 400 West Russell Street. The officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.

2:23pm: Charlie Paniagua spoke to an officer about the process of a committal and No Contact Order.

3:09pm: Charlie Paniagua requested officers at 402 North Chestnut Street for an argument between family members. The officers arrived and diffused the issue and separated the parties involved.

3:42pm: Terry Hoefle reported a Careless Driver on 235th Street, heading towards Jefferson. The officers did not locate the reported vehicle.

4:09pm: An officer spoke to a subject about a van parked in the street for a long period in the 500 Block of West State Street. He advised it belonged to friend and had broken down. The subject removed the vehicle from the street.

4:22pm: A caller advised of an Open Window at a business in the 100 Block of East Harrison Street. The officers secured the business.

8:10pm: Sharon Johnson requested officers at 205 West Vest Street for her 15-year-old grandson, who was out of control and flashing a knife at her. The officers arrived and diffused the issue. No knife was located.

9:40pm: The A&W spoke to an officer about a vehicle left in their parking lot at 300 North Elm Street. The officer learned the subject parked there and went to the races in Boone with a friend. He advised he would remove the vehicle when her returned back to Jefferson. The business was given this information.

11:01pm: An officer assisted a motorist with mechanical issues at Elm and 220th Street. The vehicle was pushed off of the roadway.

11:08pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call on Hwy.4, just north of the casino.

11:57pm: A Traffic Stop at Lincoln Way and Elm Streets resulted in Michelle Christian of Rippey being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

Sunday, August 25th

3:28am: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 600 Block of South Olive Street for, “Vehicle Parked Facing Wrong Direction.”

8:57am: Samantha Ripperger reported her husband and step-son had gone to the movies in Carroll on the previous evening. They were to return home around midnight, but had not arrived. Neither party was answering their cell phones. The officer gathered clothing and vehicle information and requested assistance from Carroll officers in locating the two. Carroll Pd located the subjects a short time later and advised they were fine. They contacted Samantha and advised her they were okay.

11:02am: Amanda Brown spoke to an officer about an Unwanted Male coming and going from her residence at 306 West Reed Street. She did not want the subject to return to the residence. The officer spoke to the male and forwarded her wishes to him.

12:10pm: Julie Muzney reported witnessing a male use a Slim Jim to gain access to a parked vehicle at 106 West Washington Street. The vehicle was not in the lot when officers arrived.

1:42pm: An officer removed tree branches from the roadway in the 700 Block of South Elm Street.

1:45pm: Officers assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street.

2:48pm: Marty Carlson spoke to officers concerning a Civil Property Dispute with a family member.

3:34pm: Dave Sayre reported a vehicle had not stopped at the posted Stop Sign at Russell and Olive Streets. He advised the female driver was parked nearby. The officer spoke to the female and warned the driver about the incident.

6:24pm: Tammy Wistenberg reported the laundry machine took her money at 301 West Reed Street. She was advised to contact the business owner.

8:03pm: Sparky’s One Stop requested an officer at 606 Hwy. 30 East for a male begging customers for money. The subject had departed the business before the officer arrived.

8:12pm: A Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of West Head Street resulted in Lathan Davis of Churdan being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

8:35pm: A Traffic Stop was performed on a speeding vehicle at 220th and Elm Streets. The officer’s radar locked the vehicle at 69 mph in the 55mph zone. During the stop, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. During a “Probable Cause” search of the vehicle, the officer located a vaping device and a bottle of green liquid. The liquid tested positive for marijuana with a NIKS Field Testing Kit. Clarence Steve Richardson of NC was cited for, “Operation without Registration and Excessive Speed.” He was given a Verbal Warning for “No Proof of Insurance.” Charges are pending after the officer receives lab results on the seized liquid.

10:20pm: A caller advised of a vehicle on South Maple Street, which was parked too close to the intersection with Brackett Street. The officer located the owner of the vehicle, who moved it from the intersection.

10:41pm: Keri Jensen requested assistance in the 200 Block of South Walnut Street with a Suicidal male subject. The subject went willingly with the officer to ER to be checked by a doctor.
