Guthrie County residents did not come home empty handed from this year’s Iowa State Fair, with several residents receiving accolades in several categories.
The Panorama FFA Chapter received fourth place in equestrian teams, and Hope Arganbright of Panorama was named reserve champion in pony western pleasure and pony breeds. Terry Sprague of Guthrie Center received several awards in open class livestock, including first place in market steer – 10-24 months of age and senior heifer calf – Sept. 1, 2018 – Feb. 28, 2019. He was also named champion heifer calf and champion steer. Mike Morrell of Guthrie Center received several ceramics awards including first place in the stain, hand thrown or sculptured, and technique not mentioned categories. In 4-H static exhibits, Guthrie County received 21 blue ribbons and given an excellence rating in two categories. In the animal exhibits they received 23 purple ribbons and 38 blue ribbons.
