As fall sports begin around the area, the McCreary Community Building is also gearing up for their youth camps for the season.
Assistant Perry Parks and Recreation Director Becky Halling says one program that has historically been a popular one with kids is the youth volleyball camp. She points out that this year the camp will again benefit from connections with the Perry School District. “We’ve been very lucky with the high school to have great partnerships. Last couple years we have had the high school girls volleyball team be able to put on this camp, so again I’m hoping to continue that partnership. During this camp, they’ll learn the fundamentals and skills of volleyball, as well as hang out with their friends and get to see the volleyball girls as well.”
Halling also emphasizes that the volleyball camp isn’t just for girls, as any boys interested in taking part are welcome to join. The program is open to kids in 1st through 6th grade, and the cost to participate is $15 for McCreary Center members and $30 for non-members. The camp will run on Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. between October 7-28. The deadline to sign up is September 30th at 8 p.m. To register for the youth volleyball camp, you can either stop in or call the McCreary Center at 515-465-5621, or you can join by using the online registration by clicking the link below.
