The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday.
The meeting began with the Board approving personnel changes, and introduced new staff in attendance. They also approved three open enrollment requests that were timely and met good cause and denied one that didn’t meet those expectations. Next, Stuart Police Chief Dave Reha and Officer Katie Guisinger presented on their recent school resource officer certification and the training that was held at the high school. Reha proposed to the Board that a 28E agreement be formed between the District and the department so they can play a role in all the district buildings. The Board spoke in favor of the idea and an agreement will be presented at the next meeting.
The Board then approved an athletic training agreement for $12,000 for the 2019-2020 school year with Absolute Performance Therapy of Waukee. They also approved window graphic purchases for both elementary buildings and the middle school main and gym entrances. Finally, the Board tabled action on policy review, directed Superintendent Lance Ridgely to explore the option of an online auction for the district’s obsolete equipment, and scheduled a work session for September 11th.
