The Greene County School Board met Wednesday in regular session.

The Board discussed action plans for their 2019-2020 goals. Of the five goals, the Board made plans for two of them. The Board intends to create a transition committee for their first goal of moving the 5th-12th graders to new buildings in 2020. The Board then discussed having public informational meetings on the new high school and career academy project, as well as continuing to meet with students during lunch times as part of their second goal of increasing interaction with students, staff, parents and public.

Next the Board heard a brief update on the student construction program. It was determined that the students will build a home on lot 9 of Briarwood Estates. There are 17 students registered for the class and a potential buyer is considering the property, with the idea of customizing it.

After the Board received a construction update of the new high school and career academy, the Board then approved several board policies as presented, as well as several fundraisers. Additionally, the Board set September 17th at 6:30pm as the public hearing date to use carryover funds from teacher quality and professional development to the flexibility fund to make safety upgrades to the elementary school playground equipment of over $63,000.

Finally, the Board approved a change order to increase the new high school and career academy project by $49,000. The changes were made to drainage tile and electrical.
