It may not be visible, but friends, coworkers, neighbors, and relatives generally all carry some sort of trauma.

Firefly Creek Ranch, a non-profit gathering and retreat center in rural Guthrie Center is hosting a day of healing for those who have dealt with personal tragedy. Ranch Owner and Nurse Care Manager Brenda Rose explains the mission for the event, “We’re working to have a day of healing where we can help people who have walked through trauma in their family. Maybe it’s been a suicide, or there’s been drug violence, or there’s been a murder, or sex trafficking, the loss of a child. The traumatic wounds that we carry within ourselves that we really don’t have control over but still affect us every day and make a difference in our lives and in our relationships with other people.”

Rose will be joined by Dr. James Coyle, a licensed pastoral counselor and author, and nurses Nicole Burright and Kendra Creighton, who will speak about holistic health related topics. This event will take place Saturday August 24th from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Registration is $25 and includes a copy of Coyle’s book, a companion workbook, and lunch. Cost is $30 the day of the event.
