With the start of the 2019 fall sports season around the corner, we’re taking a look at our favorite Panorama moments from last fall.
Number two on our list comes from the volleyball court. The Panorama volleyball team has improved their win total in each year since a 4-26 record in 2015. With a strong senior core intact from a seven-win campaign in 2017, they looked to surpass improvement and make school history.
The Panthers started the season hot and cold scattering wins and losses until a rough stretch where they dropped six-straight sets to talented Woodward-Granger and Des Moines Christian. Panorama found themselves at 10-8 at this point, already exceeding their win total from 2017, but the team was hungry for more. From there, Panorama won seven of their last nine matches, including a thrilling five-set regular season finale versus Earlham. Panorama fought their way into a fifth-set in the regional quarterfinal match before eventually falling to Treynor to finish their season.
The Panthers finished the year 17-12. This was Panorama’s first winning season in more than a decade. The Panthers continue their streak of improvement this fall when they open their season August 27th. Check back in tomorrow to see what made #1 on our 2018 Panorama fall sports countdown.
