Greene County High School volleyball player Lily Muir earned second team All-Conference honors a year ago from Heart of Iowa Activities Conference coaches. The 5′ 11″ junior for Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams said she sees herself in more of a leadership role this season. “We have some new people this year and I’m more involved in helping them to know what to do and helping our team get better.”

Nevada and North Polk (Alleman) tied for the volleyball title in the conference in 2018. Muir talks about her thoughts when the Rams take the court against those and other high level teams. “I think it’s important to stay confident in how you’re playing, and then you’ll play well. Don’t get intimidated and just play your best game.” Greene County was 2-5 in the conference last season and won seven matches overall. Muir and her teammates are hoping for improvement in 2019.

This is the final year in the HOIAC for North Polk and Gilbert. They’ll be leaving for the Raccoon River Activities Conference at the end of 2020 baseball and softball seasons. West Marshall (State Center), a former HOIAC member, will be returning to this conference at this time next year.
