An unexpected resignation prompted immediate action at Monday’s Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board meeting.
Earlier that day, Activities Director Reece Satre announced his intention to leave ADM to take the same position in the North Polk School District. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says Satre’s resignation came after his contract had been signed for the new school year, which meant the Board needed to act on it as quickly as possible. Dufoe says the situation puts ADM in a tough spot, but they have a plan to handle it. “We wish him the best at North Polk, and we’ll move on. We are in the process of looking to see how we can fill that role this year with an interim, a one year position, and then we will seek to fill it with a permanent replacement over the course of this year when we can have a full blown search when other candidates would be more likely to interview for a position.”
Dufoe says the applicant pool should be larger further into the school year. Prior to Satre’s departure, the School Board will set an assortment of conditions for allowing him out of his contract. Dufoe says those requirements haven’t been finalized yet and won’t be too complicated, though he emphasizes their purpose is to ensure a smooth transition between Satre and his initial successor.
