An increased law enforcement presence is at the West Central Valley High School this week, but nothing criminal is to fear.
The Stuart Police Department is hosting the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) for a basic school resource officer class. This week-long class provides training for officers on situations and issues that occur in the school setting. The class has 40 officers coming from departments across Iowa and other states including Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Wisconsin. For offering to host the class, the Stuart Police Department earned two free registered spots for Chief Dave Reha and Officer Katie Guisinger to attend.
