On Tuesday night the Adel-Desoto-Minburn football team had a special guest to talk to the team about football and various life topics. Jordan Carstens was the guest for the evening, a former Iowa State captain and NFL player who originally played in the area.
Carstens attended Panorama High School where he was a star for the Panthers. He didn’t receive any Division I offers so walked on to Iowa State. In Ames he thrived, as he would eventually become a 1st team all-conference defensive lineman, as well a four time academic first team all Big 12 Scholarship Athlete.
He played for the Carolina Panthers for two years, which included him posting four sacks and 35 tackles for the 2005 season. Carstens had to retire due to kidney related problems before the 2006 NFL season.
Carstens speaks to various football teams around the area. It was a great opportunity for this young Tigers team to soak up knowledge from a player who has overcome adversity and achieved great success.
