Todd Gordon began duties as Greene County School District Activities Director on July 1. He’s a veteran of the profession, who spent the past four years at Des Moines Roosevelt. Carlisle, Manning, Harlan, Treynor, Lisbon, and Walnut, are other stops along the way.
A former basketball coach, Mr. Gordon talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the advantages of being AD without having coaching duties. “Number one, I’m honored to be here and to be able to do this for our school and our communities. Not coaching while being an AD lets you focus on helping coaches and coaching coaches, to try and get better. I don’t have all the answers, but when we sit down, I can look at things objectively, and I don’t have any skin in the game coaching-wise. They’re some good people that do this- coach and be AD, there are success stories all over the place. But I think (not coaching) let’s the AD look at things from a total program perspective. I want all of our kids and all of our programs to succeed and live up to their potential, whatever that potential looks like.”
Official high school practices for cross-country, volleyball, and football, began on Aug. 12 for Greene County teams.
