Another opportunity for blood donations is happening tomorrow in Jefferson.

The LifeServe Blood Center of Des Moines is hosting a community blood drive from 12:30-5:30pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. For those that don’t know their blood type, LifeServe Public Relations and Marketing Manager Danielle West says they can still give blood and will be able to find out their specific blood type.

“They’ll usually just do our standard pint of blood donation. We call it a whole blood, but it’s that one pint. And then after they donate we will send them a blood donor card with their blood type on it and we will have it in our system as well. And then we can kind of guide them into the right donation type for their blood type once we know that.”

West adds that rules and regulations that might prevent someone from donating blood are constantly changing with the Food and Drug Administration. She suggests calling them to verify those changes when scheduling an appointment or seeing them tomorrow before they give blood.
