Greene County was a major stopping point last week for several Democratic politicians. 

On Tuesday presidential candidate and former U.S. Representative John Delaney spoke to a small group of farmers and agriculture professionals at David Weaver’s farm in Rippey. He spoke about getting America to participate in the Trans-Pacific Partnership as a way to compete with other countries against China, along with healthcare and other topics.

Scholten at Greene Bean Coffee Tuesday

Also on Tuesday, Democratic candidate J.D. Scholten visited Greene Bean Coffee as part of his kick-off tour, following his announcement of his re-bid for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District seat. He said he has unfinished business following the 2018 election when he lost to Republican incumbent Steve King by three-percentage points.

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota toured a wind turbine near Dana on Wednesday. She learned about how Iowa became the second most wind energy producing state, behind only Texas and the economic benefits that wind turbines provide.

Finally, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts came to RVP~1875 in Jefferson on Thursday. She talked about ending corruption in Washington D.C., making structural changes to the economy and protecting democracy.
