A Guthrie Center man has been sentenced to prison for numerous charges.
According to Guthrie County Attorney Brenna Bird, 23-year-old Charles Andrew Onnen pled guilty and was sentenced on August 2nd to five years on a class D felony for possession of contraband while confined, with District Court Judge Tom Murphy presiding. This charge relates to a November 2018 incident. Onnen also pled guilty and was sentenced to two years in prison each for third degree robbery and first degree harassment, both aggravated misdemeanors. This relates to an August 2018 incident at Tojo’s Bar and Grill in Jamaica. Both sentences are to run consecutively for a total of four years, but concurrently to his other prison sentences.
Additionally, Onnen pled guilty to failure to report contraband in a correctional facility, an aggravated misdemeanor, and was sentenced to two years in prison. This relates to a May incident in which he failed to report a prison shank at the Guthrie County Jail. Onnen is ordered to pay $300 in attorney fees and $500 in jail fees, and must pay restitution to the victim. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation Criminalistics Laboratory assisted in the investigation. Onnen currently faces a second degree attempted burglary charge in Dallas County from a July incident.
