As the anticipation of the high school season continues to grow across the state of Iowa, this is a quiet time of year for most peoples sports calendar. With baseball season officially completed this past weekend and softball season the week before, fans have no choice but to sit on their hands and wait for the upcoming fall season.

Most states have only fall, winter, and spring sports but here in Iowa we are blessed to see competitive high school athletics throughout most of the calendar year. It’s something that a lot of us in the state might not appreciate enough while all the seasons are taking place, but during this brief offseason we might appreciate just a little bit more.

As summer workouts conclude this week, athletes and fans as well, will be looking to finish the offseason strong before the fall sports calendar begins later this month.
