One of the most important things for high school athletic programs is the availability of multi-sport athletes to fill different roster spots for various sports. For Wildcat athletics, this is very important due to being a smaller school.
In an interview on the Guthrie County Sports Page last night, head football coach Shaen Polasky talked about the importance of players on his football team being apart of sports other than football.
Traditionally athletes that are multi-sport tend to have more success in the sports they compete in. Examples of more success may be limiting overuse injuries, less burnout from competing in the same sport over and over, and the ability to accumulate cross sport skills such as hand-eye coordination, endurance, and agility plus other skills.
The more good multi-sport athletes a high school has traditionally means that there is a better chance of winning across a variety of high school sports levels. WCV will continue to look to find great multiple sport athletes to represent their school.
