On the same day as his announcement of his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, J.D. Scholten also announced a campaign stop in Jefferson.

Scholten will be at Greene County Coffee Tuesday at 12:30pm. Born in Ames and raised in Sioux City, Scholten narrowly lost to Republican incumbent Steve King in 2018 by three-percentage points. The meet and greet event is free and open to the public. Scholten is looking for a rematch of last year’s election with King. 

King is also facing challengers within the Republican Party for the primary election in June of 2020. There are at least three candidates running against incumbent King.
