Friday, August 2nd

7:02am: Kayla McKown reported finding items left overnight on her trampoline at 307 East McKinley. The items did not belong to her. The officer took possession of the bike, Karaoke Machine, and a Pogo Stick.

7:07am: Brandon Mitchell reported two tires were cut with a knife on his Dodge Caravan while parked overnight at 607 West Monroe Street. The residence has outside surveillance cameras and Mitchell will provide the officer with footage if located.

12:15pm: Brenda Ladd reported a Careless Driver on 220th Street, heading west towards Jefferson. The officer located the vehicle and followed it for a while, before performing a Traffic Stop with the vehicle. The officer spoke to the driver about the complaints.

6:37pm: Kathi Hoskins reported a careless Driver on Hwy. 4, heading north towards Jefferson. The officer locked his radar unit on the vehicle as it entered Jefferson at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone. A Traffic Stop was performed with the vehicle in the 200 Block of South Elm Street. The officer immediately smelled the strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver of the vehicle. The officer was not Certified in Implied Consent and contacted another Jefferson officer to conduct the traffic stop. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Gisela Del Carmen Guerrero, 52 of Dawson for, “OWI 2nd Offense – Aggravated, Fail to Have a Valid Driver’s License – Simple, Excessive Speed – Simple, and Fail to Carry Registration Card – Simple.”

9:47pm: Mihles Exline reported a male consuming alcohol in a vehicle at 106 WestWashington Street. The officer located the vehicle and followed it for several blocks. The officer did not witness any traffic violations before the vehicle reached a residence in town.

10:24pm: Derrick Roeder called and advised his dog had gotten loose from 1200 Westwood Drive. The officer did not locate the animal.

Saturday, August 3rd

12:01pm: An officer witnessed a vehicle turn from Wild Rose Lane onto Hwy. 4, without using a turn signal. The officer performed a Traffic Stop with the vehicle on Hwy.4, just north of the Casino. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Brandon Lee Dodson, 33 of Webster City for, “Driving While Barred – Aggravated, Operation without Registration – Simple, and Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Simple.”

3:18am: Brandon Mitchell advised two male subjects had thrown rocks at his residence of 607 West Monroe Street, before running away. He provided the officer with a possible suspect. The officer did not locate anyone in the area and is still investigating.

8:18am: Dakota Barrett requested an officer at 500 East Clark Street for a Civil Rent Issue. When the officer arrived, all parties advised it had been worked out between them and no assistance was needed.

10:34am: A caller advised of a stray dog running near 1304 Ferguson Circle. The officer located the animal and placed it in the Animal Holding Facility.

2:18pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Doreen Wilbur Drive resulted in Elsie Jablonski of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

3:30pm: Patrick Coil advised of Criminal Mischief to his camper at 802 West State Street. Several windows had been broken out with large rocks. The damage had occurred sometime over the last week. Estimates to replace the broken windows are $450.00.

7:27pm: Meghan Bruggeman was cited for, “Excessive Speed after a Traffic Stop at 220th Street and M Ave.

4:10pm: Daryn Mallory reported Criminal Mischief had occurred to his vehicle while parked in the alley at 108 ½ East State Street. The 1995 Chevrolet S-10 had all the windows broken and all tires were cut. The damage had occurred since August 2nd, 2019. Estimates for damage are $1000.00.

4:19pm: Ritchie Burkhardt reported a stolen cell phone form 401 East McKinley. He advised an acquaintance had been at this residence the day prior for several hours before the phone came up missing. Burkhardt provided the officer with the name of a witness, who advised the officer she had received a call from the suspect on Burkhardt’s cell phone. The officer is finishing up the investigation and charges are pending at this time.

7:07pm: Sparky’s One Stop reported two stray dogs near 606 Hwy. 30 East. The officer did not locate the animals.

7:41pm: Nikki Henderson reported she was scammed on a ticket sale over Face Book. She had purchased Ozzy Osbourne tickets from a male on the site. She sent the money, but never received the tickets. The officer is investigating.

8:19pm: A Greene County Jailer advised on officer of a Possible Intoxicated Female, who just left the front counter of the LEC. She provided the officer with a plate number and vehicle description. The officer located the vehicle and spoke to the driver, who showed no signs of intoxication and was allowed on her way.

9:05pm: A caller advised of a private party occurring at the Jefferson Municipal Swimming Pool at 701 South Maple Street. The caller advised an individual was jumping off of the top of the slide into the pool. He was concerned the subject may get injured and the liability for the city. The officer went to poll and learned the subject who had jumped from the slide was an employee and had been given permission to do so by the pool director.

10:09pm: Bruce Binkley requested an officer at 507 East Garfield for his grandson, who was out of control. The officer arrived and spoke to the grandmother, who advised the juvenile had left with his other grandmother and this was fine. She advised he was safe there. The officer spoke to DHS about the incident as they are involved with the youth.

Sunday, August 4th

3:53am: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 501 South Vine Street.

10:16am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 1200 Block of Rushridge Road.

10:35am: HyVee reported an Alcohol Theft had occurred at 106 West Washington Street on the day prior. They provided the officer with surveillance video of the theft. The female in the video had been previously charged for the Theft of Alcohol and Banned from the store, but allowed back to shop again. An Arrest Warrant has been requested for Janon Leslie Olson, 48 of Jefferson for, “Theft 5th Degree – Simple.”

6:52pm: Sparky’s One Stop advised a vehicle had been abandoned for 24 hours near the diesel pumps. The keys are in the vehicle, but it will not start. The officer pushed the vehicle out of the way and contacted the registered owner of the vehicle. He advised a mechanic will remove the vehicle on Monday morning.

9:51pm: Breanna Lappe reported a group of kids on skateboards near the RR Crossing on North Grimmell Road. She advised they are hard to see and someone may get struck by a car. The officer located the group and spoke to them about wearing reflective clothing, or lights so they can be easily seen after dark.

11:33pm: The A&W reported a suspicious vehicle sitting in the parking lot at 300 North Elm Street. The officer spoke to the occupant, who was waiting for an employee to get off work.
