With several mass shootings taking place this last week, an organized vigil is planned in the City of Adel.

Co-organizer Bryce Smith says a candlelight vigil will take place tonight at 8pm on the south lawn of the Dallas County Courthouse. The vigil is for the victims of the recent shootings. Smith adds that community members of faith, business and government, along with citizens are putting on the event.

During the event, community members will talk and offer prayer, light vigil candles and release memorials of the locations of the recent mass shootings. There will also be other resources on hand to learn about gun violence, mental health, among others.

The vigil is free and open to the public.
