The Perry Chamber of Commerce hosted the second Friday Fest event of the summer Friday evening, and people of all ages came out to Pattee Park for the free entertainment.
The music was provided by the band TOAST3R, and the lawn around the bandshell was filled with the chairs and blankets of the many attendees. Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti said the celebration had a much larger crowd than the one that showed up to the first event in June, which she attributed in part to the cooler weather, fewer mosquitoes, and no confusion around where and if the concert was happening. She was happy to see so many kids and families in attendance, and she felt everyone had a great time during the festivities.
In addition to the music, attendees were able to get their faces painted, create art on the parking lot with sidewalk chalk, and help themselves to free freezer pops provided by Hy-Vee. Many people also took advantage of the “bring your own basket” policy, though others got their dinner from the three different food vendors during the show. All around, Pasutti felt Friday Fest was a big success, and she said the Chamber learned a lot between the two events this summer.
