A jury trial was recently held for a Jefferson man accused of child sex abuse.
According to court documents, the two-day trial resulted in 26-year-old Jeremy Orfield being found guilty of an aggravated misdemeanor for indecent contact with a child, and not guilty of a Class C Felony for second degree sexual abuse and a Class D Felony for lascivious acts with a child. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department that began on July 28, 2018. An incident took place between Orfield and a then nine-year-old girl.
A sentence hearing will be scheduled for a later date. The maximum sentence Orfield faces is two years in prison and register as a sex offender on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for ten years. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
