From celebrating those who’ve flown to the moon or on a broomstick, the Stuart Public Library has offered a wide assortment of programs to patrons of all ages this summer.

After expanding their summer reading program to multiple months, the library had 81 registered kids and 21 registered adults who kept reading logs, filled out activity cards, and attended free programs. Guthrie County Extension hosted weekly activities, the library hosted weekly story time for infants to elementary age kids, and Thursdays featured the popular Lego Club. There were also stand-alone events, like the free shirt screen printing on Apollo 11’s 50th anniversary, and a Harry Potter Party that was held Wednesday.

Library Director Lisa Sherman comments on their free services to the community, “Well I guess we consider it a real privilege to have this time with children, (and) with the families. I mean we have seen just a real increase this year, this summer.”

Kids and adults have until Thursday August 15th to turn in their reading logs and bingo cards for prizes. One special family will also be selected to win a telescope, tying in with this year’s summer reading program theme, “A Universe of Stories.”
