Adair County families will be recognized for their environmental stewardship at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

The families of Larry and Jean Baudler, Steve and Carol Baudler, Bill and Chelsea Baudler, Jordan and Brittany Groves and Chad Winkelman, and Dennis Crall are among the 53 Iowa families that are receiving the Farm Environmental Leader Award. The award acknowledges farmers who take voluntary actions to improve or protect the environment and the state’s natural resources. These practices include cover crops, wetlands, bioreactors and saturated buffers, which support the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy. The winners were chosen by a committee representing conservation and agricultural groups. The recipients will be honored on Wednesday August 14th from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Penningroth Media Center in the state fair cattle barn.
