Whether it’s buying back-to-school clothes for your children or freshening up one’s personal wardrobe, Iowans can spend less this weekend during the annual sales tax holiday.
This event takes place the first Friday and Saturday of August, which exempts the sales tax on clothing and footwear items with a price tag of less than $100 at all Iowa stores. As more of downtown Guthrie Center’s storefronts have been filled this year with new or relocated boutiques, Main Street Guthrie Center Director Dana Buster encourages people to save on the gas expense as well, “Whenever you shop here locally your money stays locally and you want to support your local economy rather than driving outside of this area to shop and give your sales tax dollars to other communities.”
Some stipulations apply to Iowa’s Sales Tax Holiday, and more details can be found by visiting here.
