With the 2019-2020 school year less than one month away, school supplies can be hard to come by for some families.
Everyone in Greene County is encouraged to donate school supplies to the Back-to-School Supply Drive. New Opportunities of Greene County Coordinator Teresa Lansman says families needing school supplies and who can’t afford them, can sign up by August 9th to be included in the program. There are a variety of supplies needed, which include: pencils, folders, wide spiral notebooks, loose leaf paper, three-ring binders, composition notebooks, dry erase markers, pencil boxes, glue sticks, headphones and earbuds. All items can be donated to Lansman’s office located at 1401 North Elm Street, Suite A or at Jefferson Telecom.
Lansman notes that all items need to be donated by August 14th. There will also be backpacks handed out, which will be distributed to families on August 19th. The Back-to-School Supply Drive is for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Lansman says they served 165 children last year.
