The Adel Historic Preservation Commission recently awarded a grant to help restore a historic building in the downtown area.
The $5,000 grant was unanimously approved by the Adel City Council, and covers a window replacement for the building that now houses Big Al’s BBQ. The restaurant recently opened for business at the building located at 715 Main Street, but before they could do so they needed to repair windows on the second floor. The Commission felt the project was worthy of the grant funds, adding that it would go a long way towards the revitalization of downtown Adel. The money came from the City’s General Fund and will be reimbursed using Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds. Big Al’s BBQ officially opened for business on July 22nd.
