adm-7

On Tuesday afternoon, the dream ride, Cinderella story for the ADM Baseball team came to an end, as the Tigers were outlasted by top-seeded, Cedar Rapids Xavier, 7-2.

It was a beautiful day for baseball in the Capital City, and an exciting atmosphere for the state’s best teams to have the opportunity to play in a professional ballpark.  The ADM fans came out in numbers, as Tigers faithful outnumbered Xavier fans by, at least, triple the amount of support.

The Tigers hung tough in a tied ballgame, and even briefly lead, before the sixth inning started tipping in Xavier’s favor.  Logan Crannell pitched a solid five full innings on the mound, before a pitching change was made in the 6th inning.  A few hits by the Saints, and a couple errors by the Tigers, and runs started crossing the plate for Xavier.  Unfortunately, ADM was unable to recover.

Heading into the 7th inning, two straight singles by the Tigers first two batters made it seem like there might be one final rally.  However, a line out directly to the Xavier shortstop was turned into a double play, and ADM was down to its final out.  The game ended on a strikeout, and Xavier advanced past the Tigers, 7-2.

ADM ends its season at 14-17, while Xavier will advance to the 3A Semifinals on Friday in Des Moines to face Marion.
