Summer workouts ended Sunday night for the AC/GC football team as they prepare to enter year 2 under head coach Cody Matthewson. Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with Matthewson on Monday afternoon about a number of topics including the improvements they’ve made in the offseason.

“I think it’s been a key value that the kids have really embraced the workouts,” Matthewson said. “We really preached to not just our players but the whole student body as well.”

Matthewson says he’s ready to see the progress his team has made when the Chargers travel to Manning to take on IKM-Manning in the season opener on August 30th.

“It’s going to be a great measuring stick for us to go out to IKM and play at their place and the culture and the history they have had,” Matthewson said. “It’s going to be a great first game to showcase what we can do.”

AC/GC begins the season with a Gatorade scrimmage against the Madrid Tigers on August 23rd.
