Friday, July 26th

8:56am: Oly’s Corner advised of side dump semi’s dropping a wet material on the roadway at Elm and Lincoln Way Street. The officer followed the trail of material on the roadway to a gravel pit site on Jordan Avenue and spoke to a driver. They were hauling a compound from a water treatment site to their dumping location. The driver advised it was not harmful, but they would not drive through town with any further loads of the material.

11:20am: Hilda Ratliff requested a Welfare Check on her adult daughter. She had not been able to contact the daughter for some time. Officers located the daughter later and found her to be okay. She was advised to call her mother.

1:05pm: An officer provided a Funeral Escort.

1:34pm: Dispatch received a 911 Hang Up Call from a cell phone. The female had advised her boyfriend was hitting her and ended the call. The officer drove to the location the call had mapped and located a female walking in the area. She advised she and her boyfriend ad become involved in a verbal argument and she got out of the vehicle and walked. She advised that nothing physical had occurred and did not need assistance.

2:24pm: Chad Louk advised of a Possible Intoxicated Driver on 235 th Street, heading west towards Jefferson. The officer located the vehicle and witnessed the vehicle cross the centerline of the roadway. A Traffic Stop was performed with the vehicle near the Airport. The officer learned the subject was extremely tired after a long work shift and was not impaired by alcohol.

4:00pm: Kenny Cathers spoke to an officer about a Civil Issue occurring at 701 North Cedar Street.

6:16pm: Bob Heath spoke to an officer about a Civil Issue occurring at 305 North Chestnut Street.

8:21pm: Sparky’s one Stop reported a known male had left the business without paying for food items. The officer contacted the male and the bill was settled.

Saturday, July 27th

9:55am: Wendy Taylor reported two men attempting to break into an empty residence at 702 North Cedar Street. The officer located two male subjects loading a refrigerator onto a trailer. They advised the property owner had given them permission to take the fridge. The officer verified this with the owner of the property.

10:13am: An officer locked his radar unit on a speeding vehicle in the 200 Block of South Elm Street at 46 in a 35 mph zone. The officer performed a Traffic Stop with the vehicle in the 200 Block of West Harrison Street. While speaking to the driver, the officer noticed the strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The officer performed a Probable Cause Search of the vehicle and located suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and several unknown prescription pills in a duffle bag. Thee officer seized the items for testing. Brandon Fredrickson of Omaha, NE. was cited for, “Operation without Registration.” He faces further charges after testing is complete on the seized items.

10:48am: Teresa Gaver requested an officer at 1000 West Adams Street #6 for family members taking her items. The officer arrived and did not locate anyone in the apartment. He spoke with Gaver for a few minutes and established she did not need assistance.

11:27am: Alexis Jordan requested assistance at 104 East Monroe Street after locking herself out of the residence.

1:01pm: Ray Emmick reported his estranged son had come to his residence at 602 South Elm Street and was harassing his family. He requested an officer to tell the son he was no longer welcome there. The officer located the son and forwarded the wish for him to stay away from his parents.

2:31pm: LeAnna Marshal spoke with an officer about a Civil Property Dispute. The officer assisted in getting an IPad back that belonged to her daughter from a male.

3:04pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance and the Medical Examiner with a Death Scene at 621 South Wilson Ave.

8:10pm: AN officer investigated a Traffic Accident in the 1700 Block of North Elm Street. A 2001 Dodge Caravan, owned and operated by Rosalyn Griffen of Jefferson, was northbound in the outside lane of North Elm Street. In the 1700 Block, Griffen attempted to change to the inside lane and struck another northbound vehicle. The 2016 Ford Edge was owned and operated by Dennis Joens of Buffalo Center and was travelling north in the inside lane when Griffen changed lanes. The Griffen vehicle had a reported $1500.00 in damages, while the Joens vehicle suffered a reported $3000.00 in damages. Griffen was cited for, “Unsafe Turn – Fail to Signal.”

11:15pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1200 Block of South Elm Street resulted in Jenny Westphal- Hurac of Casey being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

Sunday, July 28th

12:01am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 400 Block of South Chestnut Street.

12:30am: Brandi Garrett requested an officer at 206 East McKinley Street for a female refusing to leave her residence. The officer made numerous attempts to have the female leave the residence, but she refused. The officer arrested Brianne Kara Wolf, 28 of Grand Junction for, “Disorderly Conduct – Simple.”

9:31am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 100 Block of Ram Drive.

10:00am: The Jefferson Library reported damage to an outside lamp post on the north side of the building. The post had been broken at the base, causing the electrical wiring to be exposed. The damage estimate to repair the light post is $200.00.

11:00am: Kurt Swensen of Minburn requested assistance from an officer in making contact with a Jefferson resident who had been involved with Swensen in a Backing Accident in Des Moines. The officer is assisting in locating the resident and providing them with Swensen’s phone number and a request for a call from them.

2:22pm: Duane Dozier reported a Suspicious Female near the 400 Block of West Park Street. The officer located the female, who was waiting in the area for a family member to arrive home.

3:18pm: A Traffic Stop in the 800 Block of East Lincoln Way Street resulted in Damon Bennewitz of Churdan being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

7:35pm: An officer investigated a Two Vehicle Property Damage Accident at Oak and Washington Streets. A 2003 Chrysler Town and Country Van, owned and operated by Chelsey Phipps of TN. was southbound on North Oak Street and did not yield to an eastbound vehicle on Washington Street at the intersection. The Phipps vehicle was struck by a 2014 Dodge Durango, owned and operated by Michele Madsen of Jefferson. Both vehicles suffered a reported $3000.00 in damages. Phipps was cited for, “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability-Accident and Madsen was cited for, “Fail to Stop or Yield.”

8:10pm: Justin Baker requested an officer at 500 East Clark Street for a Civil Issue occurring at the residence.

Monday, July 29th

12:02am: A caller advised of glass in the roadway near Washington and Pinet Streets. The officer cleared the debris from the street.

9:57am: Teresa Gaver reported an Iphone and a checkbook missing from 1000 West Adams #6. The officer found no evidence of foul play.

2:44pm: Jon Forkner reported a suspicious female in the 500 Block of North Chestnut Street, asking people for food. The officer located the female, who advised she was awaiting a ride out of town after being released from jail.

4:20pm: Pam Hulburt reported receiving a phone call from a male advising he works for the Social Security Department. He requested her DOB and S.S. Number. Hulburt recognized this as a Scam Call and did not provide any information to the caller.

7:54pm: Nicole Chisum reported the machine at the laundromat at 301 East Reed Street had taken her money. The officer contacted the business owner, who refunded the money.

8:21pm: Teresa Gaver requested an officer to check her apartment at 1000 West Adams Street #6 before she goes to bed. Gaver believed a family member was hiding in her apartment. The officer found no one in the apartment.

8:52pm: John Sturgeon advised of a female conducting Door to Door Sales in the 500 Block of West State Street.

9:08pm: Jennifer Ashby reported a family member had stolen her paycheck at 108 East Central Ave. #66. She provided the officer with a suspect, but no way to reach them. The officer is investigating.

10:16pm: A Traffic Stop at South Elm and 250th Street resulted in Jullian Lepe of TX. being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

10:56pm: An officer assisted a female in the 1000 Block of West Washington Street in turning of the hazard flashers on her new vehicle.

******** An officer issued 11 Parking Violation Notices on the city square for, “Street Sweeping Violations.”
