Tuesday afternoon, the ADM Baseball team dropped their Quarterfinals match-up in the Class 3A State Baseball Tournament at Principal Park in Des Moines by the score of 7-2 versus, top-seeded, Cedar Rapids Xavier.
The game was knotted up at 2 runs a piece heading into the bottom of the 6th inning, when Senior, Logan Crannell, walked the lead off batter for the Saints. At that point, ADM made the decision to make a change on the mound, and bring in Junior, Zach Fuller, in relief effort.
A couple more hits by Xavier, and a couple more errors by ADM, and the game was spread wide open. The Saints picked up five runs in the 6th inning, and that’s how the final score was tallied, 7-2.
Xavier picked up a run in the 2nd, but the Tigers responded well in the 3rd inning and took the lead momentarily, 2-1. Xavier added a run in the 3rd to tie the game at 2-2, which is where it stayed until the bottom of the 6th.
The Tigers end their season at 14-17, while Xavier moves on to face their eastern Iowa, cross-town rival, Marion, on Friday afternoon at Principal Park in Des Moines.
