Most people at one time or another in their lives have been the target of a scam. In order to help people protect themselves from being taken advantage of, Rowley Masonic Community in Perry is hosting a free workshop on how to spot a scam.

The event will be held this coming Wednesday, starting at 10 a.m. at the Rowley main building. There will be several guest speakers, including: Lou Hoger, a counsellor with the Dallas County Hospital Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP); Perry Public Library Director Mary Murphy; Al Perales from the State Attorney General’s Office; Dallas County Sheriff Chief Deputy Adam Infante, and representatives from Minburn Communications and the Perry Police Department. Attendees will learn about the latest scams and how to protect themselves and their families from those who would prey on them.

The workshop is free to attend, but registration is requested. There will be a light lunch served afterwards, and a chance for people to ask the panelists additional questions. Anyone interested in attending can reach out to organizers Teresa Painter at 515-465-5316 or Nancy Johnson at 515-321-6099 with Rowley.
