A reminder that today and tomorrow is a special event that takes people back to the 1890s of agricultural history.

The 20th annual Old-Fashioned Threshing Bee is at Pleasant Prairie and Foster Timmons farms near Jefferson. The festivities scheduled for today include threshing bee demonstrations at 10am and 2pm, along with a steam plowing demonstration at 4pm. The day wraps up with a free dinner served at 6pm. There will also be opportunities for people to use a corn sheller and watch a blacksmith make different things.

Then on Sunday is a free tractor ride and breakfast at 7am. The ride goes up to Lohrville, where breakfast will be served. Then attendees can enjoy an antique tractor and truck show, followed by another threshing bee demonstration at 2pm. Co-organizer Nick Foster encourages everyone to hand pitch wheat and oats into the threshing bee for a first-hand experience of how it was done in the 1890s.

All activities are free and open to the public. The Pleasant Prairie and Foster Timmons farms is located at 1176 M Avenue in Jefferson.
