A decade after an engraving business began in Guthrie County, it has announced a new retail store in downtown Guthrie Center.

Anne and Tyson Greenwalt started their business, Carvers Ridge, north of Stuart before moving to the couple’s home of Corning. This week they announced its new location on State Street where D. Vision, Inc. was formerly located. Anne says they had desired returning to central Iowa with this expansion, and Guthrie Center’s Main Street Iowa designation gave an appeal much like in Corning, “We just feel like there’s so many opportunities when they’re Main Street communities and because they have to go through so much accreditation to become a Main Street community. There’s such a great support system in place and a positive atmosphere within those towns that are Main Street communities, so Guthrie (Center) was just a great choice when we were kind of looking around at some different opportunities. Aand then we fell in love with the building and the rest is history.”

Carvers Ridge has begun its soft opening, which will last through tomorrow from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. They will then have their grand opening on August 8th with more details to come. The business sells a variety of customized engraved items including boulders and smaller stones, glass, wood, and metal.
