The Perry Public Library is now offering a new electronic service to patrons that simplifies the process of obtaining e-books and other learning materials.
Library Director Mary Murphy says they have added RB Digital to their online vendors, in addition to the services offered by the Bridges program. Murphy says through RB Digital, people will be able to access e-books and streaming services through any of their devices, including their home televisions. The program includes an application called Acorn TV, which includes a wide variety of free educational shows and materials that can be accessed through a Netflix account.
In addition to that part of the program, RB Digital also allows for downloading e-books without a queue, something that Murphy says has been a constant frustration for people using Bridges. “We only have a very, very select few e-books, but that collection will be growing because we have to buy those ourselves. But what the fantastic thing about RB Digital is, it’s simultaneous use for everyone. So if all 5,700 people that have library cards wanted to read the same book, they could.”
The software is currently available for use, and Murphy invites anyone who would like help in getting RB Digital on their devices to stop into the library and ask.
