The Guthrie Center City Council met for a special session Thursday.

The meeting was held regarding alcohol being sold at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds this weekend for the River Ruckus music festival. The Council approved a license application from River Ruckus organizer Grant Sheeder at their regular meeting Monday, but the Fair Board had failed to do a premise update ahead of time, for the River Ruckus to be the sole license holder this weekend. The Council approved the premise update, and then discussed whether they should charge a fee for special Council meetings moving forward. City Administrator Laura Wolfe said that in talking with other cities, the average fee is $150, which pays for clerk or administrator, council, and publication costs. The Council approved that fee for meetings moving forward, which will be charged at the Council’s discretion. Parties who request a special meeting will be informed of the fee beforehand.
