Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offices throughout the state are offering meetings on farmland leasing, and this Monday Dallas County Extension will host one such event.

On July 29th from 9 a.m. – noon, people in the agriculture industry are invited to St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel to learn more about determining a fair cash rental rate and the importance of good tenant-landlord communication. The meeting will be facilitated by Steve Johnson, a farm and agriculture business management specialist with Extension. Pre-registration is required and is due by midnight tonight. The cost to attend is $20 per person or $30 per couple, and it’s payable at the door. Participants will receive a 100-page booklet and various handouts to assist them with issues related to farmland ownership, management, and leasing arrangements.

The program is designed for landowners, tenants, and other agri-business professionals, though anyone interested in learning about the farm leasing process is invited to attend. Registration can be done by calling the Dallas County Extension office at 515-993-4281, or online. For more information or to sign up, click the link below.
