After the Cinderella run to get into the State Tournament, the ADM Baseball team now gets to look forward to their first round, Quarterfinal opponent, #1 Cedar Rapids, Xavier. The Xavier Saints are good. Really, really good. ADM is 14-16, while Xavier is 38-2.
Though the opening round game won’t be easy, it won’t be impossible. The Tigers have played their best baseball of the season over the past seven days, and their pitching has been second to none in the District Championship run. Should the stardom on the mound continue for Logan Crannell, and Zach Fuller, the Tigers look have a chance to down Xavier.
ADM gave up just five runs in the three District games to three very potent offensive teams. The pitching was phenomenal, the fielding was near-perfect, and the offensive small ball strategy has proven successful for this team.
In order to be the best, you have to beat the best, and that’s just what ADM is looking to do on Tuesday morning. Should ADM get past Xavier, the Tigers would advance to the semifinals on Friday with a time to be announced.
ADM and Xavier meet in the Quarterfinals on Tuesday at 11:00am in Des Moines. If you can’t make the game, tune in for live, play-by-play coverage on K107.9, online at raccoonvalleyradio.com, or on the free KKRF mobile app.
