Aspiring young thespians in the Perry area are invited to take part in this year’s Perry Parks and Recreation Youth Theater Camp, which will take place at the beginning of August.

Assistant Parks and Rec Director Becky Halling says the camp will be held in the theater space at the McCreary Community Building, and it’s open to kids in grades 5-8. The camp will run from August 5th-8th from 12:30-2 p.m. There will then be a show on Friday the 9th at 3 p.m., with the students performing the plays “This Little Piggy” and “Cinder…Really? The True Story of Cinderella.” Halling says the camp will be a great opportunity for kids to develop their acting talent and learn from a theater veteran. “We’re very lucky to have Nicole McFarland, she puts it on for us. She’s very talented and loves the arts and the theater side of things. It’s a very fun camp, during the practices the kids get to play around with the different characters and they get to pick out their costumes and props they’re going to be using. And it’s a very enjoyable camp!”

The cost to attend the Youth Theater Camp is $20 for McCreary Center members and $25 for non-members. The deadline to sign up is Friday, August 2nd by 8 p.m., and it can be done at the McCreary Center, or using the new registration site which can be accessed by clicking the link below.
