The Shrine Bowl football game has been played in Iowa since 1973. Bryce Hoyle is the latest from the county to play in the contest. The 2019 Greene County High School grad was a defensive tackle and long snapper for the South team last Saturday in a 24-13 victory over the North. The game proceeds benefit Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals.

A first team All-State player in Class 2A as a senior, Hoyle was a leader for the Rams as they turned in a regular season of eight wins and one loss, were co-champions in their district, and qualified for the playoffs.

A contingent of family and friends were inside the Dome cheering him on Saturday, and he commented about the support. “It means a lot that a lot of my friends, and just the community will travel to watch an accomplishment that I had myself. It really means a lot to me and I’m grateful for these opportunities.”

Hoyle will be attending Buena Vista University in Storm Lake and plans on continuing his football career with the Beavers.
