The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting began with approval of a resolution to approve financial depositories and set maximum amounts, which remained unchanged from the last fiscal year. The Board also approved the Treasurer’s annual report, noting that the ending balances were down this year from last. They then approved the assignment of a County held tax sale certificate for a parcel at Diamondhead Lake in exchange for the property owner paying all back taxes.

Next the Board reappointed Karen Burchfield to the Region XII Housing Authority Board of Directors, and signed an engagement letter with Northland Securities to serve as the County’s underwriter moving forward. That was followed by approval of a contract with D.A. Davidson Companies for general obligation bond reporting responsibilities. If the County is approved for a bond referendum for a new jail, Northland Securities will take over. However, if the bond fails the County will need to discuss what to do with the current bonds.

The Board then received an update on several projects around the County, which included confirmation that all trucks and trailers that were out of service are now back in operation. There’s still one piece of equipment that’s malfunctioning, though, and the Supervisors will consider trading it in at a later date. It was also reported that Monteith Road is now finished and back open to the public. Finally, the Board approved a pair of payroll change notices for the Secondary Roads Department and tabled approval of the minutes from last week’s meeting. The meeting concluded with open forum, where the Supervisors discussed topics including the conditions of intersections, the success of RAGBRAI through the County, box culvert work, and an upcoming project for maintenance of an access to property.
