Greene County softball senior Megan Carey has been named to the 16 member Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 3A Central All-District team. A Paton-Churdan High School graduate, Carey played center field for the Rams, batted lead-off as a left-handed slap hitter, and had a .406 batting average for the 10-18 Rams. Carey struck out just three times in 96 official at-bats and was successful stealing bases 12 times in 14 attempts.
Head Coach Tom Kennedy commented about Carey to Raccoon Valley Radio. “She just had an incredible career for us, improved every year. She became our leader. Always a good outfielder, I think she really took that extra step this year and really had a great hitting year, too, like she’s done most years. I’m really proud of the way she progressed and the way she was a leader for us.”
The State Softball Tournament is taking place through Friday north of Ft. Dodge at Rogers Sports Complex. All-State teams will be released after the State Tournament is over.
