Monday night was a gorgeous night for Round 2 District Baseball, and the result for Jason Book, his ADM Baseball team, and the Tigers faithful in attendance in Dallas Center last night almost perfection.
ADM earned the season sweep on, rival, Dallas Center-Grimes, winning on Monday night 3-1. ADM, also, won at DC-G back in mid-June 7-1.
The Tigers played small ball against the Mustangs as well as anyone could in the state. ADM scored all 3 runs in the 5th inning. After picking up a lead off hit, a routine ground ball turned error by DC-G, a few beautifully placed bunts, and a couple more errors by the Mustangs and the Tigers found themselves in the driver’s seat.
ADM Junior, Zach Fuller, threw his absolute best game of the season on the mound. Fuller pitched a complete game, firing 102 pitches. Allowing just one DC-G run, walking one batter, and striking out nine Mustangs. DC-G was caught looking in countless strikeouts on Fuller’s wicked breaking ball that staggered the Mustangs at the plate.
ADM now advances to the sub-state final tomorrow in Harlan. Tomorrow night’s winner will advance to the State Tournament in Des Moines next week, and play at Principal Park.
Harlan will come into tomorrow’s game with a 26-7 record, however, three of those losses come against Dallas Center-Grimes, and two against Glenwood. ADM went 4-0 this season against those opponents. The Tigers are now 13-16 heading into the sub-state final tomorrow.
